Detroit 2009: Chevrolet Beat Production Car Teased On Today Show

The Chevy Beat is one perplexing little car. On again, off again, GM has been shaky with its commitment to actually building the car. Then we heard that it'll be build elsewhere, but that it won't pass U.S. crash standards. We frowned, then moved on. Fast forward to this morning, and GM design head Ed Welburn is standing with Matt Lauer in the GM Design Studio peeling back the sheet on a production Beat's grille and headlight, talking about how it'll be received as "the star of the show" next week in Detroit. Why debut this car in Detroit if it can't be sold here? GM, you have our attention.
