NAIAS Blog: Chrysler's Trio of EcoConcepts
The Detroit show wouldn't be complete without a set of dazzling Chrysler Group concepts, so I suppose the show is now complete. Sketches of the Dodge ZEO, the Chrysler EcoVoyager, and the Jeep Renegade were released back in November, but the embargoes miraculously held strong until they were lifted today. Check out our full coverage and you can get more specifics regarding the diesel, electric, and hybrid powertrains. All three looked impressive in person, and like the Ram yesterday, they attracted the attention of Dieter Zetsche. Maybe he misses sucking the Chrysler Group dry.
If the PT Cruiser dreamed up images of the 1940s, the EcoVoyager jumps back another decade as a modern interpretation of the Chrysler Airflow. This is one minivan we wouldn't mind owning. The Dodge ZEO was great too, looking like a better-executed Mazda RX-8 with an aggressive Dodge front end. The most disappointing was the skeleton-like Jeep Renegade, which didn't draw much applause from the judgmental crowd. Perhaps it was just disappointing because Hummer's small off-roader was so much cooler.
