NAIAS Blog: Land Rover LRX
Land Rover's LRX looks slick in pictures and appears to be a more aggressive version of the Range Rover Sport. Up close though, the LRX is another derivative of Ford's C1 platform shared with the Mazda 3 and Volvo S40 - which means it is much smaller in person than it appears in photos. So basically you have a Range Rover Sport Jr. which begs the question of why? We love Land Rover's history with rugged off-road vehicles and we rather see them go back to that original mission rather than "sport" SUV's which seem to be the answer to the question nobody asked.
All that aside, this *is* a good looking concept with Land Rover's typical attention to luxury appointments surrounded by aggressive sheetmetal that is undeniably a Land Rover product. The interior in particular is swimming in fine leathers, great smells and loads of lights and electronics. Like a number of other manufactures at the show, more and more is being made of "sustainable" materials being used through out. A greener LR for lots of green.
