NAIAS Blog: Mazda Presentation Fast and Furaious
Mazda's push in Motown is all about performance. A freshened look and improved performance for the 4-door RX is significant news, and being flanked by race-prepped versions of the RX-8, Miata, and Mazda6 might normally be worthy of more than a mention. But, when you put all that in a stand with a supercar based on a American Le Mans Series Courage C65 chassis and powered by a 450-hp triple rotary engine.... well, everything else sort of fades into the background.
Breaking through the white noise of Cobo Hall, Mazda fired up the three-rotor Furai, which sounded just a bit like an F1 car, though slightly more wicked. And, running as it does on 100 percent Ethanol, it carried the whiff of corncakes. Mmmmm...biolicious.
